All of my resources are priced at the minimum allowed by TES, they aren't trendy or earth shattering, they are a backbone to build the finesse onto, or, if it's period 7 on a Friday, you've got 300 reports still to write, a dozen UCAS references AND you need to set cover for a colleague who's sneezed twice and is off all week, they will serve well enough at an advanced FOFO level.

A comparison game not in any way similar to an aggressively copyrighted card matching game. Use it to get your pupils researching about universities by filling in the fields and then comparing against their peers. You can even throw in a few pre-prepared cards of your own for popular courses such as Law at Oxford, Medicine, PPE, Engineering and so on. The fields are editable and the information can be found on the Universities own website, on UCAS, in Heap Degree course offers or in the Times/Guardian guides. This is the simplest itineration so pupils have what I consider to be the essential information and you can edit it depending on the focus of your pupils (I normally include application deadlines, Open Day Dates and Visa requirements, number of students on campus and international: home student ratio). Weblinks to help are… banned by the TES

Beyond UCAS. Applying to university in the UK and Rest of the world

This will help form tutors and careers advisors prepare your students for applying to university in the UK and beyond. When you remember that unis in Europe are either free or low cost (e.g. Holland) and offer courses in ENGLISH its worth exploring. My entire UCAS and EU university resources. There’s everything there to get your pupils thinking about applying to uni, and to guide them through the process. There is card matching game not at all similar to “Top Donalds” which, due to copyright, I need to point out the difference between an inferior card comparision game and my excellent resource, powerpoints, an editable excell table for viewing where the pupils are in the application cycle.

This contains a little more information about the benefits of studying in Europe (principally cost) but also calibre of university via weblinks. Obviously, Berxit is going to scupper a lot of these fee structures but it’s worth showing your pupils there is more than just English unis available. It is editable and I use this as the framework for a letter to parents. I have u

As it says on the tin- a checklist of things I would expect pupils to do before they go to an interview. Proper preparation and planning prevent pretty poor performance.

This is something I write for Mts to keep them focussed on their responsibilities at this time of the year. Includes links to guidance on applying to holland, the US, the UK etc, personal statement advice and is a good start for the inexperienced MT. I keep track of all of the applications, personal statements and references through a google drive, but you can edit this to link in to whatever you want. This is a brief over-view, a full presentation required an hour and staff were losing the will to live, so I have chopped it to the bare minimum that I think MTs should be doing.

Options Choices, Universities in UK and Europe, and Brexit from Careers perspective- editable

For Mentor Tutors really, but can be formatted for parents or pupils (it's editable) With the Brexit nightmare unfolding, European courses are MUCH more attractive/competitive (cheaper for starters, and with academics leaving the UK, this is a perfect opportunity for European unis such as ETH, to poach students and staff from Oxbridge and Imperial). Applications to Cambridge are down by 14% this year- those pupils have to go somewhere and they can't ALL go to Scotland or Ireland. This is a simple guide produced to help advise pupils as to what permutations of subjects to take and the cost of study. I've written it for IB DP but the links will readily allow you to convert for A level or whatever you teach.

Personal Statement Writing Frame for the UK NOT US

This is a simple writing frame that I use to get pupils STARTED on the Personal Statement. I find getting them going to be the hardest point- once they have stuff I can work with it, but frequently they don't get going (or bibble on about their passion and their character-developing Peruvian-nose-flute voluntourist trips to the amazon; frankly, that's just tedious- less passion, more penetration please). So I wrote a really basic guide. It works well with all abilities as it's simple and clear. IT IS NOT FOR THE US THOUGH, they care much more about aforementioned Peruvian-nose-flute self development...
